We design a range of transfer tooling, from deep draws for the canning industry to structural body parts for the automotive industry.

We design single op tooling to suit our customers requirements. Either for low volume production or to suit a customers press set up.

We design jigs and fixtures for a variety of uses, from final checking fixtures to assembly, weld and laser fixtures.

Deep draw tooling requires significant feasibility analysis before design comences, us ing Autoform we give our customers confidence of a process before manufacture starts.

We design hot form and die quench tooling primarily for automotive and aerospace industries, whether it is the material, dies or both that require heating we have the experience.

We have been working with MW Designs for more than 10 years, they work closely with us looking at new ideas and best solutions for our progression tools. We receive a component from our customer and then work with MW Designs to create the best design solution for the tool ready for manufacture. Throughout the process we have meetings and regular communication to ensure that the project stays on track.
MW Design create very robust, well-engineered designs, which means that we have less issues in production and our processes run smoother.
A major benefit of working with MW Designs is their capacity. They have a number of designers in their team which means that they can work on multiple design projects at any one time, reducing delivery time on projects which is key to our customers.

We have used mw design for 10+ years for feasibility, forming simulation and press tool design. With the use of forming simulation to attain a pressing within thinning limits and introducing compensated surfaces for springback has meant any potential tool tryout issues have been minimised before going to design phase.

Westley Engineering have been working with MW Designs for almost 10 years.
Before MW Designs was founded, Mark Whitehead started his career as an apprentice at Westley Engineering back in 1986.
I have known both Matt and Mark for more than 30 years, and I have great respect for them and the work that they do to support Westley Engineering.
At Westley Engineering we work with a split of industry sectors 50% aerospace, 30% automotive (heavy vehicles), the remaining 20% defence, building trade etc. MW Designs support us with tool design, we wouldn’t use anyone else, we have full trust in the work that they do.
Over the years they have designed many tools for us and in our opinion are the best in the trade at what they do. At Metrol we supply gas springs to tooling manufacturers, MWD use our components to build the tool design for the tool maker. We work together sharing knowledge and technical experience so that we can deliver the best possible outcome from the tool design.

Established in 2001 by Mark Whitehead and Matt Williams, MW Designs has been built on the principles of providing our customers with a professional service for all their design requirements.
Our team is made up of eight design engineers who all bring years of experience on board in varying sectors, including automotive press tool design and general engineering. Unlike other firms our expertise and involvement doesn’t end once the designs have been created - here at MW Designs we pride ourselves on our extended manufacturing assistance and customer support throughout the entire manufacturing process.
